Plano is known for the Farnsworth House, and that's about it. Its small population and almost nonexistent historic downtown ironically suited it for downtown Smallville for the Man of Steel movie.
Plano is a city in Kendall County in northeastern Illinois. It has a population of 11,847 as of 2020.
Plano was known in its early history for manufacturing of farming equipment, as the Plano Manufacturing Company was headquartered there and made various machines. In addition, it had a stop along the Chicago, Burlington, & Quincy Railroad, which brought in travelers. It is probably best known for hosting the Farnsworth House outside the downtown area, designed by famous Modern architect Mies van der Rohe for Edith Farnsworth.
